What do you think is the most important part of a resume/CV?
Executive Summary (which I sometimes call the Positioning Statement)
Whose resume & LinkedIn profile (dead or alive) would you love to write given the chance? Why?
My Dad’s – because he’s a legend, and I love a challenge. Now in his 80s, he’s had a few career changes, from Newspaper Delivery Boy, to Surgeon, RAAF Squadron Leader, Father, Politician, Senator, Ambassador, Grandfather, Mentor, Friend, Champion of the Underdog and vociferous campaigner for his many interests. He’s wildly interesting.
What’s the quote you live by?
“Always to be best, and to be distinguished above the rest.” By Homer. No! Not that Homer … the one that wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey.
What’s your special talent, quirk, party trick or special sauce that makes you ‘rise above the rest?
I can turn the most challenging of careers into a compelling read. People are fascinating to me. Everyone has a story to tell. You just need to find the right words. I’m good at that.
What’s your favourite coffee order?
I detoxed off coffee 2 years ago, followed swiftly by a tea detox, and can’t do either anymore so I drink water. Dull perhaps, but it works for me!
If you had a spare $50 what would you buy, do, spend it on and why?
A hand and foot massage, and if I have any change, a Tanqueray and Soda with fresh lime. I work at a standing desk so my feet ache by the end of the day, and my hands give me grief from pounding away on the keyboard.
