Q: What does it measure?
A: The TypeFinder finds your personality type according to the Holland Codes and the Big Five theory of personality. Your personality is assessed on four dimensions:
1. Extraversion vs. Introversion
2. Sensing vs. Intuition
3. Thinking vs. Feeling
4. Judging vs. Perceiving
Your results on each dimension are combined to create your four-letter type code, for example INTP or ESFJ.
Q: How Many Questions Will I Answer?
A: You’ll answer between 36 and 102 questions. The test adapts as you go, so you will answer more questions in areas where your personality type is not clear.
Q: How Long Does it Take?
A: Allow about 20-30 minutes to take the TypeFinder.
Q: How Accurate is It?
A: The TypeFinder has been studied extensively to ensure it is valid and reliable. To determine accuracy, we analysed test results from over 3,000 volunteers who already knew their personality type to see how well the TypeFinder matched up. The TypeFinder predicted their exact personality type 71% of the time, and matched 3 out of 4 of the letters of their type 22% of the time.
Q: What Will I Learn From My Results?
Your results on the TypeFinder reveal your four-letter type code, for example INTP or ESFJ. You’ll discover what each letter of your type code means, as well as what your type means for you, your relationships, and your success at work. Your report is divided into four sections:
1. Dealing With Others: How you connect with others and approach relationships
2. Knowing Yourself: How you think about things, your values and priorities
3. Finding Your Calling: Your work style and ideal careers
4. Unlocking Your Potential: Your strengths and weaknesses, and strategies for achieving your potential

Q: What Else Can You Tell Me About TypeFinder?
A: The goal of the TypeFinder is to help you find the personality type, out of sixteen possibilities, that best reflects your attitudes and behaviour. By asking you questions about your approach to each aspect of life, we aim to help you understand how you can best describe your own personality.
You may already recognise the four-letter codes we use to describe personality types. These type codes have been made famous by other assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (a registered trademark of the MBTI Trust, Inc.) and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter® (a registered trademark of David Keirsey). But the TypeFinder is a little different.
The TypeFinder takes the extremely useful system of personality types and makes it even better by incorporating modern personality research. Over the past 60 years, the sixteen-type system has proved itself invaluable in helping people understand themselves and others, choose appropriate careers, and develop as people. Unfortunately, although Myers’ work on personality types was revolutionary, it is also several decades old. Traditional assessments based on her theories don’t benefit from the wealth of information about personality that psychologists have discovered in recent years.
We have modernised the concept of personality types by blending the theories of Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers with the findings of contemporary psychologists, specifically, the Big Five model of personality. While we still use types to describe people, incorporating findings in the Big Five field allows us to give you a more accurate and up-to-date assessment.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The Typefinder® Personality Type Assessment costs just US$29.00.
Q: How long will it take?
A: Allow 30-45 minutes to complete the Career Surveyor.
Q: How accurate is it?
A: The Career Surveyor was developed using well-established interest and personality scales. Each scale of the Career Surveyor was validated against an existing measure to ensure that the assessment performs similarly to comparable instruments.
Q: What will I learn from my results?
A: Your results contain two major sections. First, you’ll learn how you scored on the six major interest areas. You’ll see a list of careers that match your interests, for each of the major areas that are a fit for you. The second section of your report focuses on your personality. Here, you’ll learn how the five major dimensions of your personality affect your success and satisfaction at work, and you’ll receive personalised advice for selecting a career that suits your personal characteristics.
